New Discovery - Joseph Salvat "Open Season"

"Open Season" is one of my favorites from Spotify's New Music Tuesday playlist. It's not showy, it doesn't have a DJ dance beat, it's a good background song. Check out more of his stuff here.

New Discovery - Jon Bellion ft. Audra Mae "Luxury"

I'm a sucker for a horn section and a beat drop. He sounds like Owl City sometimes, I was confused for a second. Check out the rest of his stuff here and here.

New Discovery - Melanie Martinez "Dollhouse"

She's giving me a Lorde-Kimbra vibe. Apparently she was on Team Adam on The Voice. I like that she doesn't sound like she was on The Voice, if that makes any sense. Check her out here.

New Discovery - Delta Spirit "Yamaha"

"Yamaha" was featured in the movie Warm Bodies, but I didn't notice Delta Spirit until now. Their new album Into The Wilde will be released on September 9. Check them out here.

New-ish Discovery - Phox "Slow Motion"

Her voice reminds me of the lead singer from Little Dragon and one of the British songstresses. If I had her singing voice I would sing everything all the time. I'd be in meetings singing the latest sales numbers, haha. Their debut album will be out on June 24. Check out the band here.

New Discovery - Ella Eyre "Deeper"

I've been slacking on my music listening, so everyone is probably going to be a new discovery to me. But, anywho, I have added Ella Eyre to my increasing long list of female songstresses. She is like a mix of Selah Sue and Lianne La Haves, and that is just fantastic. Keep up with her here, and watch the music video for "Deeper" after the jump.

New Discovery - David Dallas ft. Freddie Gibbs "My Mentality"

David Dallas proves that "real rap" still exists. There will always be people longing for the days of "real rap," back when 16 bars could make you feel something. Kendrick is getting a lot of praise for it, but I wish more of the international rappers would get some shine.

New Discovery - Southern "World Don't Shine"

Southern, made up of brother sister duo Lucy and Thom Southern, could be the next big thing. Their sound is emotional without sounding overly dramatic. Listen to another one of their songs, "Where the Wild Are" here. They are currently working on their debut album, that should be out in 2014.

Re-Discovery - Matrimony "Obey Your Guns"

I've been slipping on my listening to new bands and music in general, for various reasons. But I'm starting to get back to my former glory. If you don't know Matrimony, they are a southern indie folk-rock band; modern anti-folk according to their bandcamp page.  And they fit right in with the current emergence of folk rock back on the scene, like The Lumineers and Mumford and Sons. New Discovery - Andy Allo

I can't believe I hadn't heard of her before last week. Allo is getting more attention for her work with Prince, but she is a talented artist on her own. She is like a mix of Corinne Bailey Rae and Esperanza Spalding. Keep up with the African songstress here.

New Discovery - Water Liars "Fake Heat"

"Fake Heat" is like the next chapter of "Falling Slowly" by The Frames. It is off their new album Wyoming, which was released yesterday. So delight your ear canals with some new music. And keep up with the band here.

Who's Next - Alt-J "Tesselate"

The Brit Awards nominated band is getting praise all over for their brand of indie rock. And if you saw Silver Linings Playbook, you heard their track "Buffalo." Check out their music and tour dates here.

New Discovery - Haim "Forever"

Dance Party anyone?! They have that great mix of pop, 80s Teena Marie, and New Wave; like O'Spada, Florence and the Machine, or Beth Ditto. They are a group of three sisters who were either the coolest girls in school or loners. I'm leaning towards loners, in a good way. Either way, I love them and you should too. New Discovery - Ophelia Cache 'All Things Blue'

Ophelia blends smooth R&B beats with jazz like vocals; similar to Chrisette Michelle, Little Dragon, and Estelle. Honestly, that vocal style is annoying to some, mainly those who want the standard Monica type of vocals. But for those of you not annoyed by it, give Ophelia a listen.

"Cupid's Prayer" and "Pity Party" are standouts.

New Discovery - Apophenia "Mission Valley"

"APOPHENIA - experimental indie rock outfit - has now been nominated in the monthly "Band Of The Month" contest by The Deli Magazine!

The band has been playing and releasing records for over 5 years. To them, this is an incredible milestone in their careers. A member of the band says, " The exposure would [be] beyond words in it's potential for our 6 year career...!"

New Discovery - Nesian Mystik

If you are a fan of feel good, vibe, play as you clean the house music, than Nesian Mystik's 2009 album Elevator Music is for you. The Polynesian kiwis(New Zealanders) describe their style as a mix of "Polynesian culture merged with RnB, Hip Hop, and Reggae." So my love for kiwis continues to grow.
