As if he doesn't do enough already, he also has his own record label, Tennman Records. Currently signed to the label are Matt Morris(his old MMC buddy), Freesol, Brenda Radney, and youtube sensation Esmee Denters. Watch some behind the scenes footage of the making of Denters "Love Dealer," featuring JT, video after the jump.
The birthday man has had some really successful collaborations; ex. the #1 "Give It To Me." One of my favorites, "The Only Promise That Remains," is so beautiful, I love me some Reba Some of my other favorite Timberlake features are "Rockaway" by Kenan, "Dead and Gone" by T.I, "Can't Believe It" by T-Paina (a rare remix, Timberlake says it himself in the song), and "Carryout" by Timbaland.
You must have had "the talk" with your parents or someone before listening to this song. This is not the Patrick Stump you are used to, or maybe it is. Seth Green posted the link, so I'm assuming it's for Robot Chicken. Click here to download it.
This sketch was one of his best. Justin isn't your average modern day triple threat because he is pretty prolific in all of his talents. So for part two of his comedy chops, I will just post the link to his clips on Hulu.com
By now if you haven't seen this video you really must reevaluate your life, j/k. Justin had proven his comedy chops before this, but this digital short really got people to realize just how funny he is. The follow up, "Mother Lover," which I think is equally amazing, is after the jump.
JT is not just an artist, he produces for other artist as well. Most notably, for Duran Duran's last album. Out of the tracks Timberlake produced, I think I like "Nite Runner" the most. Video of them making the album together after the jump.
This is the best interlude on the FutureSex/LoveSounds album. Everyone agreed that it should have been a full length track. Including John Mayer, who did a cover after the jump.
"Worthy Of" is a bonus track off of Timberlake's multi-platinum Justified album. It is one of my favorites; partly because it wasn't played on the radio therefore it wasn't overly played on the radio.
This is my favorite television performance of "Cry Me A River." With a sprained ankle(some sort of injury), the man still put on one of the best performances that night at the Billboard Music Awards. The official, awesome video is after the jump.
This is the best television performance they did. If you think there is a better one let me know. In fact, that whole show was probably the best VMAs performance wise.
....to the love of my life, best of our generation, talented beyond belief, fine as wine, and my imaginary husband.....Justin Randall Timberlake!!! Pathetic, some may say, but sometimes the things that make us pathetic are the things that keep us sane. So to keep my sanity, I will be posting some of Justin's best performance, interviews, e.t.c. The video above is from his last concert in DC. JT + GoGo = OMG. Enjoy, and happy birthday to everyone who shares his birthday!
In his grammar, Tyler Glenn, lead singer for Neon Trees, "fell off the stage in holland. Face hit barrier. Passed out, front teeth shattered, lips cut blood all over." Glenn, the true rock star that he is, "finished set Anyway." He said he was short one tooth at the end of the night. I appreciate when artist stick it out when they are sick or injured. But at some point you have to put your health first. Luckily for the fans in Holland, his injuries weren't the show cancelling kind apparently.
Music videos with substance are rare these days, so I applaud Lykke Li for doing what others seem to be allergic too. No, Lady Gaga's videos do not count as substance. Gaga's videos are entertaining, but she could stand to make something real and not just something she thinks is provocative.
Finally, the video for Tinie Tempah and Ellie Goulding's "Wonderman" has been released. If you are old enough, or like to watch old tv shows, you will recognize the theme of the video from The Six Million Dollar Man. If you don't recognize the title, it's the show were they rebuild the astronaut(I think he was an astronaut), and turn him into a bionic man. If that doesn't ring a bell and you haven't gone to IMDB yet... go to imdb.com.
Bright Eyes has a new album, "The People's Key," coming out February 15th. Two tracks off the album, above, have been released. If you like either or both, you can download them for free.
Lissie covers Kid Cudi's "Pursuit of Happiness." I love this version; she made it her own without destroying the original. Might have to go see her when she comes to DC on Sunday. I already wanted to go, but now I really want to go.
My hero and future mentor, Patrick Stump, did a cover of John Legend's "Greenlight." The first video he posted wasn't supposed to be released apparently. He "forwarded it to management and evidently sent the raw video footage without any of the audio." I actually like the version without the music more cause, obviously, you can hear his voice better. But, Stump seems to have another opinion. He was "embarrassed, pissed, disappointed," that he accidentally put out the first version. Once he noticed the video had no music he took it down. *sad face* Either way you can see more of his cutely awkward dance movements.
Red Palace
As expressed best by the people next to me, "this is hipster central, maybe cause the area is still so dilapidated." They were talking about H street NE, an area of DC known for violence, bad streets, and hideous buildings. An area one didnt think to go to not too long ago. Now with the influx of hipsters and their hangouts more people are venturing here. They come to eat at Sticky Rice, go to the bars, hang out at H Street Country Club, dance and see concerts at Rock n Roll hotel and Red Palace. I don't think about those things, so it wasn't even a factor in my decision to go to the concert. After a few extra hours at work, I hopped on a bus and made my way there.
I got there later than I normally do for concerts, and still ended up at the front of the line and subsequently stage. Somehow the actual venue space is not bigger than my living room. Okay, its bigger but it's still about half the size of the Black Cat. I expected it to be small, but not that small. The small size lent for a more intimate and familiar concert. It was like if everyone was friends or family with the bands; many were. Other than that, I loved the red walls and the patterns adorning the walls and doors. And the fact that they played The Big Lebowski at the bar downstairs while we waited to be let upstairs.
I couldn't get the link to work earlier for some reason, but I finally got it. Watch Adele perform live, right now at the Tabernacle, Notting Hill here.
Young the Giant, compromised of diverse members all from Orange County, California,
"write the sort of soaring, melodic rock 'n' roll that’s bound for greatness. From the jolting percussion and anthemic chorus of "My Body" to the lovesick fervor of "Cough Syrup" to the uptempo, sun-stained pop of "I Got," the California five-piece's stunning debut features an arresting collection of songs that announce the presence of a vital new band."
"My Body" was featured on iTunes as the single of the week last week. If you like the song it is still available for free download until tomorrow.
Talib Kweli has been talking about his first official independent album, Gutter Rainbows, for months now. The album comes out tomorrow, Jan. 25. "I'm On One" is one of the tracks off the album. It is refreshing to see there are still rappers out there...rapping; not making songs that come with a dance.
Wale is not the only MC from DC to make waves. Phil Ade is helping to solidify DC's place in current hip-hop. The video above is for his latest "Spazzin;" with a sample from Lord of the Underground's "Funky Child."
J-Pop that is. Apparently, Mya released her first Japanese album "Sugar & Spice" in 2009. And her latest album, "Fabulous Life," is going the same route. She seems to be doing well in the J-Pop market. Hopefully, she will make a comeback in the states soon. She and Amerie really need new management and/or a really incredible song to jump back into the game.
Because I am an idiot, and forgot to get my Little Dragon tickets on Friday, I missed the Little Dragon show here in DC on Saturday. My friend went and said it was great, which is what I figured. Next time I will stop working so hard and take time the two minutes it would have taken to buy the tickets. Not bitter...not bitter at all.
Kanye West made a couple of announcements on twitter today. One, Watch The Throne comes out in two months. Two, a video for "All of the Lights" will be out in a week. And most importantly, he will be putting out a new album this summer. Each one of his albums has been different, and in some ways better, than the one before it. So I can't wait to hear what he has in store for us next.
idolator has a bonus track, "I Found A Boy," from Adele's new album '21'. Whoever her ex-boyfriend is must be cursing himself right now. Well, at least being Swifted(you know how Taylor Swift writes about all her gentleman callers) means you were important enough to get a whole song written about you. Good or bad, that is kind of cool. And MTV for a track by track review of the album. I can't wait to listen to the album until I can't stand it.
I know Ellie Goulding, nominated in both the British Female Solo Act and British Breakthrough Act categories, from Tinie Tempah's "Wonderman."
Read a little about her US debut at idolator.com
Alexandra Burke, winner of the fifth series of X Factor, is nominated in the British Single category for her single "All Night Long," video above. I actually don't think the single deserved to be nominated, but I don't know what the criteria is for nominees, so yeah.
Nominated in the British Single category, Cheryl Cole was/is a member of the popular UK girl group Girls Aloud and a judge on the X Factor. Unlike her marriage to footballer Ashley Cole, her solo career has seen much success. The video for her nominated song "Parachute" is above; including sexy dancing with Dancing with the Stars Derek Hough.
I love my future ex-boyfriend's verse, but I'm not quite feeling the beat used for the remix. Adele's sample on "Do Ya Like" was so perfect, that this pales in comparison.
Olly Murs, real name Oliver, came in second place on The X Factor. He is nominated in the British Single category for his #1 UK hit "Please Don't Let Me Go." He reminds me of a British Blake Lewis, who was a finalist on American Idol. I just can't seem to stop comparing people, oh well. This might sound bad, but I feel like he will be involved in a coming out scandal. Like, O magazine will have him on the front cover with a mystery man. Price you pay for fame I guess.
Nominated in the British Female Solo Artist category, Paloma Faith is yet another Brit babe with a voice built for a different decade. Like Duffy, Adele, and Amy Winehouse, Faith's voice seems to be influenced by the greats of the 50's and 60's. When I listen to her I think of if Erykah Badu and Duffy's vocal chords had a baby. Her video for "Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful" is above.
Bored but talented. Stump sings some of the most popular songs of last year...with himself. He makes some faces that even John Mayer would wonder about.
Nominee and winner of the Critics Choice award, Jessie J has a powerhouse voice comparable to Jazmine Sullivan. I shouldn't compare people, but they both are great at controlling the power behind their voices. They use the power to emphasize and not just because they can. These British women are seriously coming for the Americans. Watch her stun gatherers into silence with her live performance of "Who You Are" at the Times Square subway station in NYC.
The 2011 Brit Awards nominations list came out last week. And in honor of that, instead of doing Foreign Friday, the rest of the week is going to be reserved for the nominees. First up, Plan B who is nominated for Best Solo Male Artist, British Single for She Said(video above), and Mastercard British Album of the Year. Plan B, real name Benjamin Drew, is sort of a mix of Drake and Justin Timberlake in his renaissance man ways. The triple threat, actor/musician/director, has stiff competition in his categories from Tinie Tempah(who I did a post on earlier). May the best rising star win. *Yes I know his stage name is unfortunate.
I really wish I had the money and vacation time to go to this. It is going to be ridiculous. I would even get over my fear of flying. If anyone would like to donate airfare and concerts tickets to me, feel free to email me. www.coachella.com
"Hi Everyone - We’re very excited to officially (darn internet) announce that our third album, “Vices & Virtues,” will be released everywhere on March 29. The first single, “The Ballad of Mona Lisa,” will be out everywhere the first of February (and if you do just a little searching you might be able to listen to a clip right now). There will be tons of other stuff coming up soon too so make sure you're paying attention. We can’t wait for you to hear everything and see you all at the shows!"
James Blunt's third album, Some Kind of Trouble, is out today. Raise your hand if you new about this. I'm pretty sure no hands went up. The video for the first single, "Stay the Night," is above. He looks unrecognizable without facial hair; I honestly had no idea who I was looking at.

Tinie Tempah - Frisky from Tim Brown on Vimeo.
The British born mc, full name Patrick Opadi Yodu Okogwu, has been making waves for the past couple of years. Most recently he is featured on Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair" official remix. His debut album, Disc-Overy, debuted at #1 last October in the UK. Tempah mixes mostly hip hop, house, and dance to make some of the most infectious music out there. But it isn't just cookie cutter like Ke$ha and other artists out there making dance music today. There is something articulate about the production of his music; like the producer used equations to make the beat.
childishgambino: Remixes: "Childish Gambino - Do Ya Like (cajita remix) by cajita Childish Gambino - Put It In My Video (Joseph Andreoli remix) by Joseph..."
I'm not hipster enough to actually say dope or dopeness without it sounding foreign and wrong, but I can type it. This song and video makes me want to be an artist. Loves it.
The first concert I plan on going to in the new year, unless something great comes up, is 30 Seconds to Mars. We're going all the way to Richmond, which can take up to three hours to get to from where I am. It's completely worth it. The last time I saw them was on my birthday, and it was friggin' awesomely crazy fun. So I hope this time is just as great. Last time, Jared signed my poster happy birthday upside down. Maybe this time he will let me touch his rock hard abs upside down. *drools*
