Beyonce Reinterprets "Get Me Bodied"
Beyonce reworked her hit, adult, "Get Me Bodied" for Michelle Obama's Let's Move! Campaign. The campaign is to help fight obesity among children, and people in general I guess. Jay Z's wife did a superb job of taking out the sexual lyrics and dancing; making it perfect for kids to do. For some reason this made me like her more.

New Music - Beyonce "Run The World(Girls)"
I was waiting til it was official, cause sometimes the demos and the final versions can be extremely different. Her biggest fans seem to not like it, but perhaps after a couple more listens they will change their minds. I think it is hot, but over produced; too many cooks in the kitchen.
New Music Video - Beastie Boys "Make Some Noise"
Haha at Elijah Wood saying "There were so many hot chicks at that party." It just doesn't sound right coming from him. They must have had the best time making this video, considering who is in it. Rihanna and Foo Fighters Have Something In Common
They are both #1 on a Billboard chart this week. The Foo Fighters have their first #1 album, on the Billboard Hot 200, with the debut of their latest Wasting Light. This is a bit surprising considering their popularity, but not so surprising because many popular acts have gone decades without a number one album or single. Other notable debuts are Paul Simon at #4, he hasn't had a number one album, with So Beautiful Or So What. And Jessie J at #11 with Who You Are; a little disappointing, but America hasn't really had the chance to get to know her yet.

Cover Stories - Amber Riley "Someone Like You"
I had planned on not posting anymore Adele covers, but Ms. Riley's voice is just too amazing. Why the heck is Gwyenth Paltrow singing the Adele song on Glee. Amber Riley is still underused on that show. While Ryan Murphy was so wrapped up in Kings of Leon not wanting their music on the show, he isn't using the talent he already has. Useless.

Q&A with Project Jenny, Project Jan
Project Jenny, Project Jan have more than just an interesting name; they make great music and interesting videos to go with them. So I was quite pleased when they said they would answer some of my questions.
1) How did you come up with your name?
We're not so sure. We do know that the name has evolved into these 2 characters who, to me and Jeremy, have taken on personalities of their own. They kind of guide the direction of the band, or vice versa, but they are a crucial element of us.
2) Was there a reason you stopped at a duo?
We still are a duo. We have a couple of musicians who help us with live show now, which is a new thing. With the arrangements of some of the new songs being more live instrument driven we knew we couldn't do it just by ourselves anymore off a laptop.
3) How has Brooklyn influenced your music?
Not so sure... I don't have anything to compare it to.
4)There has been controversy about bands refusing to license their music for Glee. Would you allow a show like Glee or a show in general to use your music? Why or why not?
Only if Gwyneth Paltrow were to perform it.

New Music Video - Lost in the Trees "All Alone in an Empty House"
It is like the open credits of True Blood.
"The video is a visual symphony of sometimes disturbing, other times beautiful imagery. It required band members to endure hardships like hanging from a tree between flaming ropes and being dragged facedown through dirt and leaves." ~ Ari Picker

High Highs
Foreign Friday - Braids
I'm a tad bit busy at work to do a full write up on them now. So here is a synopsis: they are from Montreal, their debut album Native Speaker was released this year, and they are cooler than me. Download "Plath Heart" here.

Donald Glover Had a Late Night
He does a bit of a Childish Gambino, I know they are not two different people, song at the end. I love this man too much.
Throwback - Common ft. Lauryn Hill "Retrospect For Life"
Hahaha, his acting has not gotten any better; okay maybe a little better. This is back when there were more than a few rappers actually rapping about real issues.
Mya -> Sisqo -> Ja Rule -> Charlie Baltimore -> Ghostface Killah -> Mary J. Blige -> Common -> Lauryn Hill. I think that is a great person to stop on for Throwback Thursday. Check out one of my favorite Lauryn Hill videos after the jump. I hope you enjoyed my trip down R&B/Hip Hop music memory lane. Comeback next week; same place, same time...maybe.

Throwback - Mary J. Blige ft. Common "Dance For Me"
If you've been following my Seven Degrees of Separation experiment, your logical guess for this would be Mary J Blige and Method Man's version of "Your All I Need." But since that was to be expected, and the fact that she was the feature on that song, I chose this one.

Throwback - Ghostface Killah ft. Mary J Blige
I actually don't remember this, hmm. Look at that Slick Rick chain.

Throwback - Charlie Baltimore ft. Ghostface Killah "Stand Up"
Probably not either of their most famous songs, but it counts for my game so it works. I'm sure when they first heard her spit they were baffled. She doesn't look like she would be this hard.

Throwback - Ja Rule ft. Charlie Baltimore "Down A** Chick"
Poor Ja Rule, I'm sure he thought he was going to beat 50 cent. And double poor Charlie Baltimore(rocked the red hair pre-Rihanna); her career/life didn't go so well. At least her daughter seems to be doing well.

Throwback - Dru Hill ft. Ja Rule "You Are Everything"
So I am playing Seven Degrees of Separation with these throwback videos. Except I don't know who I'm trying to get to. I'll figure it out as I go along. First it was Mya ft. Sisqo, now it is Dru Hill ft. Ja Rule. The bouncing...quintessential 90's dance move. Haha at Nokio's rapping.
