New-ish Discovey - "Karma" Lady

"Karma" by Lady was featured on last night's episode of True Blood. It's 60s R&B sound is soulful and heavy. It was nearly perfect for the ending of the episode, which I wont spoil. For something a little more upbeat, check out "Money."

Cover Wars - Brandy "Magic"

I want to like this more than I do, but her breathy raspy singing style kind of bothers me on this. I love the original Coldplay version, so it's a little bit of an uphill battle. There are certain parts that I like, and I think its a solid effort. Maybe if it wasn't a straight cover, but more of a reimagining. Let me go listen to it again.

New Discovery - Melanie Martinez "Dollhouse"

She's giving me a Lorde-Kimbra vibe. Apparently she was on Team Adam on The Voice. I like that she doesn't sound like she was on The Voice, if that makes any sense. Check her out here.

Just Cause - Meghan Trainor "All About That Bass"

The music video makes me like the song more. Also, I didn't expect her to look so clean, haha. I think I was expecting a Amy Winehouse look.

Throwback Thursday - Jay Z ft. Eminem "Renegade"

I've probably posted this for Throwback Thursday before, but I don't care. Eminem slays this, it's basically his song, Jay Z should of been the feature. It's still one of my favorite songs by either of them.

Throwback Thursday - M.O.P ft. Busta Rhymes "Ante up Remix"

Busta Rhymes and Eminem released a new song called "Calm Down," which made me nostalgic for the old versions of these two game changing rappers. First, "Ante Up," cause Busta Rhymes sort of made this song what is is on the remix.

Newish Discovery - Mali Music "Heavy Love"

I've been neglecting listening to Mali Music's album, and I regret it. It is one of the best R&B albums out this year. Mali Music makes gospel based, conscious, old school meets new school R&B, that makes you think at the same time you are tapping your feet. Would love to see him blow up like Sam Smith is doing.
