Why Hip Hop Should Get More Childish

With amazingly witty lyrics, that can take two or more listens to really get, Childish Gambino is finally starting to get some of the recognition he deserves.

Because you can't just be talented in one field nowadays, Donald Glover, former writer for 30 Rock, better known as Troy on Community, and one third of Derrick Comedy, continues to prove in his music that he feels like he has something to prove. In a way he does.

Going from what you are known and loved for to something no one expects of you can be extremely difficult and foolish. Just ask every famous basketball player who wanted to become a rapper. And even if you do crossover, there will always be those who don't appreciate it; i.e Justin Timberlake pursuing acting.

So why would Glover risk the embarassment, heckling, and possible career suicide? Because like Gambino says in one of his songs ", he is gifted in another field, and another field, and another field." He actually is a talented rapper, with the wit of Lil' Wayne, creativity of Kanye West, honesty of Eminem, and the appeal of Drake.
